Traditional Cataract Surgery
Surgeon uses blades to make incisions to get to the cataract. Ultrasound is used to break-up the cataract into tiny pieces before removing it from the eye. A basic monofocal lens implant is then placed in the eye for distance vision. If a patient has astigmatism the vision is still blurry due to poor focus until he/she gets new glasses a month after cataract surgery. This option is general covered by health insurance.
